Haiti // R.I.S.E. Haiti // Pastors Benite & Michaelle Jeunes

Who are we?

R.I.S.E. Haiti is an organization launched by Pastor Benite Jeune and his wife, Michaelle in Vignier, Haiti.  They are the pastors of a thriving church, and Pastor Benite leads a fellowship of close to 200 churches. They have two daughters, Daisy and Ruby, and a son named Enzo.

What do we do?

Pastor Benite runs a school for 800+ children from the ages of 3 – 19. He founded the Esther and Jabez Children’s Home in his home in 2012 with 4 little girls and now has 16 children from the ages of 3-15.  Construction is currently underway for a new, larger home that will house over 60 children.

Why do we do what we do?

As the survivor of a building collapse in the 2010 earthquake and later a gunshot wound during an armed robbery, Benite Jeunes knows God has a destiny for his life. His higher education was completed in Canada and the US, but his and his wife, Michaelle’s, calling is to the people of Haiti. He often says if you were to put a piece of gold into a bucket of mud and ask a Haitian child, “Which are you? The gold or the mud?”, the child would invariably say, “The mud.” His obsession is to make Haitians see that, no, they are the gold.

What impact have we had?

R.I.S.E. Haiti has rebuilt the school that was destroyed in the January 12, 2010 earthquake in which over 200,000 people died, and countless others were wounded or rendered homeless. Since 2013, through a key partnership, we have been able to provide a feeding program for 900+ children and staff at the school on a daily basis. For some of the children, it is their only meal of the day. In 2011 we launched an annual Pastors Conference, growing from 50 pastors our first year, to more than 600 participating each year. We have held countless VBS sessions for 700+ children in the local area and in Chiote, a mountainous region of Haiti.
