The Heart of Leadership

Pastor Jason Warman

“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,  do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, . . .” – Ephesians 1:15-20

  1. Leadership illuminates your heart.

  • “Your calling isn’t your healing.” – Dr. Darius Daniels

  • Just because you gain a level of leadership doesn’t mean your walking in (spiritual) health.

  1. God wants your heart to be filled with light.

  • God illuminates things in our lives to bring healing and wholeness to our hearts.

  1. Different seasons expose hidden things in your heart.

  • In one season of our lives, we create habitations for hidden things.

  • When seasons change and we grow in our leadership, things hidden in our hearts become revealed.

  • You’ll never see your tomorrow until you settle your yesterday.

Four key areas that things hide in your heart:

  1. Negative Thoughts

  2. Critical Attitudes

  3. Unresolved Hurts

  4. Secret Sin

The church should be the easiest place for the frogs (hidden things) of our hearts to come out and be dealt with. We should embrace the mess of dealing with our hidden areas and move from one season to the next.
